Harley Earl was commissioned to create three fiftieth anniversary cars for GM. Buick, Cadillac, and Pontiac all turned 50 years old in 1953.
The Buick Skylark was created from a Roadmaster as Buick's 50th Anniversary car. The windshield is cut down and there are no portholes. The Skylark sported the the first V8 for Buick and was larger than the Special's V8 that year.
